Kevin McReynolds goes 4-for-4 with a dinger off Tim Leary and the Mets beat the Dodgers 5-1 to force a 7th game in the 1988 NLCS.

The Dodgers activate Ron Cey for the Playoffs. Cey had been out of action since breaking a bone in his forearm after being hit by a pitch on September 9.

The Royals release Cesar Geronimo and his career is over. He finishes with 977 hits, four Gold Gloves, and two rings.

The Twins release John Castino and his career is over.
Castino shared the 1979 A.L. Rookie of the Year with Alfredo Griffin, but suffered a back injury in 1981 that scuttled his career. He was just 29 when he played his last game.

The Cardinals release Dan Quisenberry. He signs with the Giants but was ineffective in 5 games in 1990 and his career is over.
