Bob Milacki allows just one hit over eight innings against Detroit in his big-league debut and picks up the win. He spends eight yeas in the bigs and wins 39 games.

Trailing the Dodgers by eight games in the N.L. West, Houston gets blown out 10-3 by the Giants, and Astros manager Hal Lanier is so pissed he holds a 90-minute postgame meeting followed by a mandatory workout. Houston plays their next two games against the Dodgers and gets shut out in both of them.

The Padres reinstate Goose Gossage to the active roster after he agrees to donate $25,000 of his salary to charity and apologize to team owner Joan Kroc and team President Ballard Smith for derogatory remarks he made about them earlier in the season. He had been sus pended since August 29th.

Darrell Evans homers in the 5th inning of a 7-6 Tigers win over the Brewers and becomes the first 40-year-old ever to reach the 30 home run mark. All dude did was quietly hit dingers for his entire career.

Kirby Puckett goes 3-for-4 and reaches the 200-hit plateau for the fourth straight season. He would finish the year with 215 hits and a .339 batting average.

The Padres release Steve Kemp. He signs with Texas prior to the 1987 season, spends the year in the minor leagues, and returns to the bigs in 1988.
