Happy ‘80s Birthday to Rudy Law, who made his debut with the Dodgers in 1978 and spent seven years in the bigs. The bulk of his career was with the White Sox and Law hit .389 in the 1983 ALCS.

Phil Niekro 1984 Fleer Update Baseball Card

The Braves release Phil Niekro. He signs with the Yankees and wins 16 games in back-to-back seasons. He returns to Atlanta in 1987 to finish his Hall of Fame career.

Bobby Mattick 1981 Fleer Baseball Card

The Blue Jays announce that Bobby Mattick will not return as manager in 1982 and name him executive coordinator of baseball operations. Bobby Cox takes over in Toronto in 1982.

Chuck Tanner 1985 Topps Baseball Card

The Pirates fire Chuck Tanner after the Bucs post the worst record in baseball. He is hired by the Braves for 1986 while the Pirates eventually name Jim Leyland as their new manager.
