Orel Hershiser pitches a four-hitter and Mickey Hatcher and Mike Davis hit two-run home runs to give the Dodgers a 5 – 2 victory over Oakland and their second World Series title of the decade.

The Mets name George Bamberger as their new manager. He takes over for Joe Torre and goes 81-127 in a year and a half at the helm of the Mets before being replaced by Frank Howard.
Deaths
Hal Dues passed away OTD in 2020. He spent three years with the Expos and won six games.
