Lloyd Moseby goes 2 for 4 in his big league debut against the Yankees. 

He spends 12 years in the bigs as part of a talented Blue Jays outfield

Jose Moreno goes 0 for 1 in his big league debut for the Mets. He picks up his first hit a few days later and plays parts of three seasons in the major leagues.

David Justice goes 1 for 5 with a single in his big league debut. 

He wins Rookie of the Year in 1990, spends 14 years in the major leagues and wins two rings.

Jay Johnstone snaps an 0 for 21 skid with a pinch-hit double against the Pirates and is rewarded by being released.
He signs with the Cubs, where he plays until 1985 when he returns to L.A.

Jack Morris allows just 4 hits and strikes out 10 in a complete-game win over the Angels.
The win is the 17th straight for the Tigers but the streak is finally snapped the next day.

Leon Durham drives in 6 as the Cubs beat the Braves 10-7 in the first game of a double header.

He’d finish the year with a career-high 96 RBI.

5/24/86

Billy Martin guest hosts the season finale of Saturday Night Live.

The final skit features him setting fire to the set with the cast members stuck in a room as a spoof of TV cliffhangers. 

5/24/87

Mark Langston allows two runs and strikes out 14 in a 5-2 win over Toronto.

It’s one of nine double-digit strikeout games for Langston in 1987 and he leads the A.L. with 262 strikeouts.

5/24/88

Vince Coleman goes 5 for 5 with two stolen bases in a 3-2 Cardinals win over the Reds.

It kicks off a five-game run in which he goes 15 for 12 (.652) to raise his batting average by 41 points.

Managerial Changes

5/24/84

Oakland fires manager Steve Boros and replaces him with coach Jackie Moore.

The A’s were four games under .500 when Boros was replaced. They finish the season eight games under.
