He spent 14 seasons in the bigs and was an All-Star in 1986 with the Astros.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Joe Nolan, who spent 11 years in the bigs and won a World Series with the Orioles in 1983.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Willie Lozado, who appeared in 43 games for the 1984 Brewers.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Ralph Botting, who appeared in 18 games in 1979 and 1980.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Angel Escobar, who went 1 for 3 in three games for the 1988 Giants.

The Twins trade Roger Erickson and Butch Wynegar to the Yankees for Pete Filson, Larry Milbourne, John Pacella and cash. People in Minnesota are pissed.

In the first month of the season, Twins owner Calvin Grifffith has traded three Opening Day starters in Wynegar, Roy Smalley, and Rob WIlfong, their Game 2 starter in Erickson and their closer in Doug Corbett.

Dave Sveum goes 2 for 4 with a double against Matt Young in his MLB debut. He plays twelve years in the big leagues.

Paul Molitor goes 4 for 5 with 3 homers and 4 RBI but it’s not enough as the Royals still beat the Brewers 9-7. 

It’s the only time in Molly’s career he goes deep three times in a game.

Mario Soto loses a no-hitter with two outs in the top of the 9th inning when George Hendrick homers to tie the game, 1 – 1.

Cincinnati wins the game 2-1 but Soto lost his no-no.

Reggie Jackson becomes the 12th player to hit a ball out of Tiger Stadium. 

The ball is retrieved by Bill Stehley, who was parking cars on Trumbull Avenue in front of Hoot Robinson’s bar.  

The Angels win the game 4-2. 

5/12/85

Jim Gott allows three runs over seven innings and homers twice off Bob Forsch as the Giants beat the Cardinals 5-4. 

Gott gets a no-decision.

Giants pitcher Rick Reuschel records his 200th career win by beating the Expos 2-1.
