Terry Steinbach 1988

Happy ’80s Birthday to Terry Steinbach, who appeared in three straight World Series with the A’s and finished up with the Twins. Terry caught a lot of flack for being named a starter in the 1988 All-Star Game when he was hitting just .217 so he told everyone to stick it and won the damn MVP of the game.

Ron Gant 1988 Donruss Baseball Card

Happy ’80s Birthday to Ron Gant, who went 30-30 in 1990 and 1991. Dude is some kinda strong. He’s currently a morning TV host in Atlanta.

Jeff Stember

Happy ’80s Birthday to Jeff Stember.

Jeff pitched in one game for the Giants in 1980, drawing a start against the Astros on August 5th. Terry Puhl hit his first pitch into the seats for a home run but he settled down and pitched three innings before manager Dave Bristol pinch-hit for him with the bases loaded. I love stories like this.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Mike Woodard, who spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues and hit one career home run. The blast came off of Dane Iorg.

Dave Tobik 1983 Fleer Baseball Card

Happy ’80s Birthday to Dave Tobik, who won 14 games over the course of his eight-year career and was drafted out of the baseball factory of Ohio University.  Go Bobcats!

Happy ’80s Birthday to Larry Wolfe, who was drafted three times and spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues with Minnesota and Boston.
