Happy ’80s Birthday to Don Money, who spent 16 years in the big leagues with the Phillies and the Brewers. He was the starting 3rd baseman for the Phillies in the early 1970s, but they traded him to Milwaukee to make room for a kid named Schmidt.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Tim Laudner, who spent nine years in the big leagues and hit .318 in the 1987 World Series. 

Happy ’80s Birthday to Trevor Wilson, who came up with the Giants in 1988 and won 13 games in 1991. 

Happy ’80s Birthday to Marty Decker, who pitched in four games for the Padres in 1983. 

Happy ’80s Birthday to Jim Paciorek, who played 48 games for the 1987 Brewers. 

His brothers, Tom and John also played in the majors.

The Chicago White Sox trade Claudell Washington to the New York Mets for Jesse Anderson

The Astros trade Joaquin Andujar to the Cardinals for Tony Scott. Andujar wins 15 games for the Cardinals in 1982 and goes 3-0 in the postseason.

The Reds trade Charlie Leibrandt to the Royals for Bob Tufts.

The Twins trade Mark Salas to the Yankees for Joe Niekro.

Bobby Bonds leads off the game for St. Louis with a home run off David Palmer, but the Cardinals are shut out for the next 12 innings.
Bill Almon’s walk-off single scores Tony Bernazard and the Expos win 2-1 in 13.

Tommy John throws a two-hit shutout against the Mariners to record his 200th career win.

He would finish with 288.

The Rangers select pitcher Del Curry from Fort Defiance HS in Virginia in the 37th round of the draft.

Curry decides to score 12,670 points in the NBA instead, but he does suit up for the Gastonia Rangers, along with Muggsy Bogues, in 1991 and pitches 3 innings.

The Braves select SS Urban Meyer from St. John’s High School in Ashtabula, Ohio in the 13th round of the draft.

Meyer hits .182 across two seasons in the Gulf Coast and Appy Leagues and decides to pursue other things.

Dodgers 1B Steve Garvey plays in his 1,000th straight game. His streak would reach 1,207 before being snapped when he dislocates his thumb in 1983.

The Cubs select SS Shawon Dunston with the top pick in the 1982 draft.

Down 6-1 after 3, the White Sox score 11 runs and beat the Angels 12-11.

The Bull goes 3-5 with 4 RBI

Steve Carlton strikes out six Cardinals to pass Nolan Ryan as the all-time strikeout leader. The two would swap the lead back and forth with Ryan ultimately coming out on top.

Harold Baines hits 2 homers and drives in 6 as the White Sox beat the Angels 11-10. 

It is the second of four times that Baines drives in six or more.

Amos Otis and Steve Busby becoming the first players inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame

6/7/87

Bo Jackson homers off Mike Moore in Seattle. Five months later he becomes the only player to both score a TD and homer in The Kingdome
