Bud Harrelson

A beloved member of the New York Mets, Bud won a ring with the team in 1969, was a two-time All-Star, and won a Gold Glove in 1971.

Jose DeLeon

Jose debuted with the Pirates in 1983 and spent 13 years in the bigs, winning 86 games. He made a postseason appearance with the White Sox in 1993.

UL Washington

UL debuted with the Royals in 1977 and spent 11 years in the big leagues with KC, Pittsburgh, and the Expos. He hit .279 in the postseason for the Royals.

Ed Ott

Ed debuted with the Pirates in 1974 and won a ring with the We Are Family Bucs in 1979. His career ended prematurely when he tore his rotator cuff.

La Schelle Tarver

La Schelle appeared in 13 games for the 1986 Red Sox, batting .120. 

He racked up 249 SBs in seven minor league seasons.

Odell Jones

Odell debuted with the Pirates in 1975 and pitched in parts of nine seasons for the Bucs, Rangers, Brewers, Mariners, and Orioles. He won 24 games and had 13 saves and later pitched in the Senior League. He was named to the Caribbean Baseball HOF in 2024.

Kevin Batiste

Kevin played in six games for the Blue Jays in 1989. After leaving baseball, he played defensive back at the University of Houston.

Pat Zachry

Pat debuted with the Reds in 1976 and won Rookie of the Year, going 14-7 in 28 starts and winning a ring. He was a key piece of the trade that brought Tom Seaver to Cincinnati and pitched until 1985.

Jerry Grote

Jerry spent 16 years in the big leagues and was a two-time All-Star with the Mets. He won a ring with the Mets in 1969 and was a member of the 1981 World Champion Dodgers in his final season.

Whitey Herzog

The White Rat spent 8 years in the bigs as a player and 18 as a manager, winning two pennants and a World Series with the Cardinals. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2010.

Tony Scott

Tony debuted with the Expos in 1973 and spent 11 years in the big leagues with Montreal, St. Louis, and Houston. He made his lone postseason appearance with the Astros in 1981.

Hank Aaron

The great Hank Aaron was a member of the 1982 Hall of Fame Class along with Frank Robinson.

Mike Brumley

Mike debuted with the Cubs in 1987 and spent 8 years in the big leagues with six teams, finishing his major league career with the Astros in 1995. He later became a minor league manager.

Billy Bean

Billy debuted with the Tigers in 1987, going 4-for-6 in his first game. 

He spent six years in the big leagues and later worked for MLB.

Mike Cubbage

Mike was a baseball lifer, spending 8 years in the bigs as a player, and then moving into coaching, managing, and front office roles for multiple teams. He was involved in baseball in some form for nearly 50 years.

Harry Chappas

Harry was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1979 and played in 72 games for the White Sox between 1978 and 1980.

Doug Bird

Doug pitched in the big leagues from 1973 through 1983, primarily with the Royals. He went 1-1 in 6 games for KC in the postseason between 1976 and 1978.

Pete Rose

The Hit King

Luis Tiant

Luis pitched in the bigs for 19 seasons beginning in 1964 with Cleveland. He wrapped up his career with a brief stint with the Angels and won 229 games, including four 20-win seasons.

Rudy May

Rudy was an under-the-radar guy, but he was a damn good pitcher, leading the A.L. in ERA in 1980 with the Yankees. 

Between 1965 and 1983, May won 1523 games and had 12 saves.

Fernando Valenzuela

Fernando debuted in 1980 and made a big name for himself in 1981, winning Rookie of the Year and the Cy Young for the Dodgers. 

Fernando pitched until 1997 and became a Dodgers broadcaster.

Merv Rettenmund

Merv spent 13 seasons in the bigs, primarily as a pinch-hitter and platoon guy for the Orioles and other teams. He enjoyed his best season in 1971 when he hit .318 in 141 games and earned some MVP votes. Merv won wings with the Orioles in 1970 and the Reds in 1975.
