Happy ’80s Birthday to Bill Dawley, who was drafted by the Reds in 1976 and sent to the Astros in a March 1983 trade in exchange for Alan Kincely. Bill won 17 games out of the pen for the Astros in his first two seasons and made the All-Star team as a rookie.

We lost Ralph Kiner on this day in 2014.
He led the National League in homers in each of his first seven seasons and led or tied for the MLB lead in 6 of those 7 seasons. That’s insane.
