The Indians trade a player to be named later and Toby Harrah to the Yankees for a player to be named later, George Frazier and Otis Nixon. Harrah hits just .217 in his lone season in New York and returns to Texas to finish his career.

The White Sox sign Bill Almon as a free agent and he responds with one of the best seasons of his career.
The former overall #1 pick in the draft (1974) hits .301 with 4 homers and 41 RBI along with 16 stolen bases.

The Angels sign Bob Lacey as a free agent.
He goes 1-3 in 51 innings, spends 1985 in the minor leagues and retires.

The Expos sign Ivan DeJesus as a free agent and if you remember this you’re a serious Expos fan. They released him before the season started.

The Twins sign Charlie Lea as a free agent.
Due to a shoulder problem, Lea had thrown a total of one big league inning over the past three seasons. He wins 7 games for the Twins and retires.

Greg Luzinski announces his retirement. He hit 307 home runs for the Phillies and White Sox over 15 seasons. He led the N.L. in RBI in 1975 with 120.

Former relief pitcher Luis Sanchez passed away OTD in 2005.
