Happy Valentines Day!

Happy ’80s Birthday to Larry Milbourne, an undrafted free agent who spent 11 seasons in the big leagues and hit .327 for the Yankees in the 1981 postseason filling in for an injured Bucky Dent.

Mel Allen was born on this day in 1913.

How about that?

Happy ’80s Birthday to Jaime Cocanower, who played for the Brewers from 1983-1986.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Alejandro Sanchez, who spent parts of six seasons in the big leagues, had 215 career plate appearances and exactly one walk.

John Marzano was born OTD in 1963. He made his debut for the Red Sox in 1987 and, as a backup catcher, earned the nickname, “Johnny NFL,” because, like the NFL he only played on Sundays. John passed away in 2008 after an accident. He was just 45 years old.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Keith Brown, who spent parts of four seasons pitching for the Reds and won a ring in 1990.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Bill McGuire, a former Olympian who played in 23 games for the Mariners in 1988 and 1989.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Scott Scudder, who made his debut for the Reds in 1989 and won a ring with them in 1990. He was later sent to Cleveland in a deal that netted the Reds Greg Swindell.

Happy ’80s Birthday to Dave Dravecky. His story is well known, but today Dave travels the country delivering motivational speeches.

The Tigers sign Rod Allen as a free agent. He spends most of the year in Double-A, but he does play in 15 games at the major league level, which is enough to get a ring. Advantage: Rod Allen

2/14/85

The Tigers sign Ken Hill as an amateur free agent. They trade him to the Cardinals in 1986 in a deal that nets the Tigers Mike Heath. Hill makes his big league debut in 1988 and pitches until 2001
