John Stearns was born OTD in 1951.

He was the Phillies first-round pick and second-overall pick in 1973 behind a high school pitcher named David Clyde. Philadelphia sent him to the Mets in a deal that brought Tug McGraw to the City of Brotherly Love. 

John passed away in 2022.
